Immunize -

Stakeholder Engagement Activities

In 2008 and 2010, The Immunization Partnership implemented a series of stakeholder activities, in order to determine local immunization concerns and gather best practices.  TIP followed a grassroots process that fostered community engagement, built partnerships, and served as a catalyst for agencies to coordinate capacities and improve immunization outcomes.

The effort successfully identified priorities, while building the first-ever statewide network of Texans committed to improving immunization policies and practices.  Over 412 stakeholders participated in the meetings and made suggestions on how to improve Texas’ immunization delivery system.  The stakeholder meetings culminated in the Texas Immunization Summit 2010 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Several key recommendations arose from the stakeholder discussions.  Based on the information collected, The Immunization Partnership and the St. David’s Foundation published a guide to the primary issues in immunization policy in Texas, An Ounce of Prevention: Texans Speak Up For Immunizations.
