Immunize for Life Campaign Launch
April 22, 2009 10 AM
Museum of Health
The Houston Area Immunization Partnership is launching a campaign to highlight the importance of adolescent vaccines and to educate the public about the new vaccine requirements that will take effect for 7th graders in Texas beginning in the next school year. The campaign includes a PSA by Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, a play for adolescents called Immunize the Freaks of Nature, educational materials for families, and lots of useful information on our website. We are excited to launch this campaign as part of our Immunize for Life initiative, stressing the importance of vaccines over the lifespan.
Our campaign was launched April 22nd at the Museum of Health, Houston TX with a press conference and the debut performance of the play. Thank you for your support and attendance at this event as partners in our efforts to prevent what’s preventable.
Texas Immunization Summit 2008
Thank you to all of you who joined us at this year's summit. We hope that you were able to get a lot of good information to help improve your immunization program.
HAIP Launch Event
04/24/2008
On April 24, the Houston Area
Immunization Partnership launched its new mission, vision and scope
of operations to a packed house at a Rotary sponsored luncheon.
Dr.
Carol Baker, member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization
Practices (ACIP) and noted author of the Red Book, spoke on
“Immunizations: Truth or Consequences” and warned the crowd that
the current backlash against immunizations in the media was very
dangerous. She urged parents and providers to know the facts about
the true risk of choosing not to immunize children and reminded the
group that immunizations have been one of the most important public
health measures to protect our community against vaccine preventable
diseases.
After she spoke, the Houston Area Immunization Partnership
awarded Frankie Milley, Founder of Meningitis Angels, with the first
annual “Protector” award to recognize her dedication to
protecting our community from deadly vaccine preventable diseases.
