The Committee
develops written recommendations for the routine administration of
vaccines to children and adults in the civilian population;
recommendations include age for vaccine administration number of doses
and dosing interval, and precautions and contraindications. The ACIP is
the only entity in the federal government that makes such
recommendations.
The
Immunization Action Coalition works to increase immunization rates and
prevent the spread of disease by creating and distributing educational
materials for health care professionals and the public. Immunize.org
features a vast library of influenza-specific resources.
Experts from the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) answer challenging and
timely questions about vaccines and their administration.
The Pink Book provides
physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants,
pharmacists, and others with the most comprehensive information on
vaccine-preventable diseases.
Due to
the complexity of the vaccine licensure process and the large number of
vaccines on the horizon, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has
developed this information page on Red Book Online to provide current
information about the licensure process and AAP recommendations about
vaccines listed in the table. This table will be updated when changes
occur.
While
the public health community continues to celebrate the great success of
immunizations in keeping generations of children free from once-common
childhood diseases, there's evidence that public confidence in
immunizations has started to erode. In this two part series, Dr. Mark
Sawyer from the San Diego Immunization Partnership and UC San Diego
School of Medicine talks about vaccine safety information for parents
and patients.
Use
this vaccine policy statement to make your practice’s own
strong statement of support for the vital role vaccination plays in
safeguarding the health of children. Your practice’s clearly
expressed commitment to immunization can be powerfully persuasive with
parents who are hesitant to have their child vaccinated because of
scientifically invalid information they have encountered on the
Internet or through the news media.
A
resource of websites that provide accurate information about vaccine
safety resources. A printable handout is also available.
In
this book, Paul A. Offit, a national expert on vaccines, challenges the
modern-day false prophets who have so egregiously misled the
public—and exposes the opportunism of the lawyers,
journalists, celebrities, and politicians who support them. Offit
recounts the history of autism research and the exploitation of this
tragic condition by advocates and zealots. He considers the
manipulation of science by the media and the courtroom, and he explores
why society is susceptible to the junk science and dangerous therapies
put forward by anti-vaccination activists.

In
February 2009, ACIP approved a listing of standardized vaccine
abbreviations for use in these immunization schedules. The table of
standardized vaccine abbreviations was developed by staff members at
CDC; ACIP members and workgroups; editors of Epidemiology and
Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases; and others. These
abbreviations are intended to provide a uniform approach to vaccine
references used in ACIP recommendations.
The
Immunization Branch of the Texas Department of State Health Services is
unveiling a new kind of communiqué to inform our public and
private collaborators of the latest vaccine information: The Vaccine
Advisory. The goal is to disseminate, in a timely manner, practical
information related to vaccines,vaccine-preventable diseases, and the
vaccine programs managed by the Immunization Branch. The Vaccine
Advisory will also help clarify how information arising at the national
level can impact immunization programs at the state level. Finally, it
will provide links to other resources for providers and the public
associated with the topic addressed.
The latest
national information about vaccine supplies and provides guidance to
healthcare providers who are facing vaccine shortages or
delays.
A
resource for schools, preschools, and child-care facilities on the
Texas immunization requirements for attendance.
