Event Description

Celebrate Mother’s Day by learning how to protect children from Pertussis!

Dr. Mary Healy (Baylor College of Medicine) will discuss the ‘Cocooning” project at Ben Taub Hospital.
Dr. Debo Awosika-Olumo (Houston Department of Health and Human Services) will discuss the prevalence of Pertussis in Houston, including groups and areas in the city with the highest proportion of cases.
Mark Ritter (CDC representative at The Texas Department of State Health Services) will discuss the adult safety net program that is designed to provide low cost vaccines to underinsured or uninsured adults.

Dr. Michele Curtis (Associate Professor, Deptartment of Ob/Gyn, UT--Houston Medical School) will discuss the importance of immunizing mothers against pertussis.
