Texas Legislature 101

Texas state lawmakers meet at the Capitol in Austin for 140 days every two years for the Legislative Session. Texas has a bicameral legislature, which means there are two chambers – the House and the Senate. One hundred and fifty state lawmakers serve in the House, and they are led by Speaker Dade Phelan. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick presides in the 31 member Senate.

Legislative Priorities

By advocating for public policies that increase immunization rates, The Immunization Partnership gives a voice to Texans who want to prevent disease. Immunization stakeholders from across the state give input to shape our legislative priorities, which are reviewed by our Scientific Advisory Council and approved by our Board of Directors.
